About the Book:

An accident that should end in tragedy instead gives seventeen-year-old Jamie Baker a slew of uncontrollable superhuman abilities.

To keep her secret safe Jamie socially exiles herself, earning the title of Rocklin High’s resident ice queen. But during a supercharged encounter with star quarterback Ryan Miller she literally kisses anonymity goodbye. Now the annoyingly irresistible Ryan will stop at nothing to melt the heart of the ice queen and find out what makes her so special.

Unfortunately, Ryan is not the only person on to her secret. Will Jamie learn to contain her unstable powers before being discovered by the media or turned into a government lab rat?

More importantly, can she throw Ryan Miller off her trail before falling in love with him?

About Kelly Oram:

Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her. She's obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful. She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.

My Thoughts:

I am so glad that I got the opportunity to review this book because it was fantastic. Jamie Baker is a grouchy teenager that keeps everyone at more than arms length, until Ryan Miller comes along. Ryan's confidence is adorable and utterly irresistible. If Jamie weren't so worried about accidentally electrocuting him every time he got too close, she would be a happy girl.

Kelly Oram has a wonderful sense of humor. I love the way she writes. Her characters are relatable and likable. I laughed all the way through this book. The interactions between Jamie and Ryan were adorable and funny. Jamie is kind of like a female Percy Jackson.

There is a lot of superhero action in this book. There is also romance, creepy stalkers, and teen drama to add to the pile of fun. There is no language in it that I can remember, and it's pretty clean as far as young adult books go. The only thing I wish had been different is that I wanted Mike to have some consequences for the things he did. I felt like he got off without even a slap on the wrist.

Content: A bit of suggestive talk, but clean otherwise.

The Cover: Love this cover! It is so bright and fun, just like the book.

4.5 STARS

  1. This does sound like a book that has it all. Sounds fascinating that the accident gave her superpowers instead of other consequences. Great review! Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. I really liked the story of how she got her superpowers. It wasn't really believable, but it landed in about the same believable-ness as spider bite induced superpowers.
