About the Book:

“Pittsun-tsun, pittsun-tsun…”

When the children hear the rain begin, they grab their boots and umbrellas and head outside for some rainy day fun! Join them in this playfully illustrated, whimsical outing. Children and adults alike will delight in reading aloud the different sounds of the rain in Japanese onomatopoeia while animated umbrellas twirl, mischievous children jump in puddles, and muddy madness ensues.

This enhanced e-book edition features narration, animation, and interactivity. Children can choose to hear the story read aloud, or read for themselves. Animations replay with a simple tap. Ideal for children 3-8.  Available October 2013 for through Apple Itunes.

Ipad only.

My Thoughts:

I liked this book much more than I expected to. It is an iBook, so there are a lot of fun little extras with it. It has a narrator, sound effects, and characters that move when you tap them. The animations are very simple, but they are enough to make the book more engaging. The illustrations are simple pencil drawings that are surprisingly charming. My kids really liked this book and had a lot of fun trying to pronounce the rainy day sounds, which are in Japanese. There isn't a story line, but more of a poem-like expression of a rainy day.

    1. It's a really cute book! I think the interactions were so great because they were so simple. It added to the book rather than took away from it.

  2. I love rainy days and listening to the sounds outside. The animated aspects of this book make me want to read it. I don't have an ipad- but hope to check it out when I can. Great review! Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. That's the biggest downside to the book, that it's iPad only! Lots of people don't have iPads. :(
