About the Illustrator:
Ag Jatkowska has been drawing and playing with color ever since she can remember. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk (Poland) with a MA in Graphic Design and Illustration. Ag now works as a full-time illustrator and has been dealing with illustration, graphic design, greeting cards, stationery, and photography.
My Thoughts:
There are so many alphabet books out there that it is really difficult to come up with a creative new way of delivering the same information. But The Alphabet Parade does a pretty good job of giving children something they haven't seen before. The things chosen to represent each letter of the alphabet all fit under the parade or circus theme. The text is written in rhyme, and it's done very well. Other than Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, I haven't seen any other rhyming alphabet books that I actually enjoyed reading to my kids.
The illustrations really made this book. They are bright, fun, and energetic. AG Jatkowska's style is warm and cute, perfect for the toddlers that will be reading this book.
Overall, this is a great choice for an alphabet book.
